News Note - Consolidated Press Editor Sherry Kughn announced that Alice G. Duckett was selected to write a monthly column called "Viewpoint" for the newly created Oxford Sun newspaper in Oxford, AL. Alice will cover people, events, happenings in the Oxford area. First paper to be published on August 5, 2011.

News Note - The new anthology, "Gallery of Voices", published by Sleepytown Press with Editor Randy Young, includes a short story by Alice G. Duckett titled "Secrets of Victoria Gardens", pgs.32-39, and a short-short story by Alice's grand-daughter Ashley Duckett, "Dreams Really Do Come True...Sort Of ", pgs. 21-23. Angthologies sell for $8 and are available at Sleepytown Press and Amazon. Contributors are from Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, Mississippi, and Wisconsin.

News Note - Students in Mrs. Juda Smith's gifted classes at Moody Elementary-Middle School in Moody, AL have adopted Alice G. Duckett's book on family history for a special project. 72 students are buying a copy of Digging From Attics To Basements. Ms. Smith says they will work on the book as a research and writing project and culminate in the spring with a Heritage Festival and share some of their discoveries in family history. Alice will autograph the students' books and present a kick-off program in February to start the classes on their quest to "dig" for family history.She plans to visit the students again in the spring when they celebrate with the Heritage Festival - NEWSFLASH!
